“Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD.” Psalm 31:24 NKJV
Hope. Tornadoes, destruction, injury, despair, death. Hope. How do we have hope in the midst of adverse circumstances? In whom can we place our hope?
We in Alabama and other states experienced all of the above in the span of minutes on April 27th 2011. As I sat in my storm room receiving report after report of injury, death and destruction of people I personally knew, hope fled and sorrow took its place. The grip of despair reigned in the area until God intervened.
He used hope and people, his favorite channels of blessings. Our friends and neighbors from near and far convened upon our state and others bringing help and encouragement. A new day dawned out of our ashes. Hope was restored.
We learned that in the worst of times, God sends people to promote courage as He strengthens our heart. You and I have been called to give hope in a world where it is a rare commodity. Hope that we can trust and wait and there is life, eternal and abundant.
The destruction has being repaired, but hope is still needed. Who will you seek out and encourage today?
Prayer: Father God, help me to receive Your hope so I can release it to others. Amen.
Thought for the day: We can be a vessel of hope for the hurting.
